St. Paul’s runs free table tennis for adults of reasonable competence, on Monday evenings between 7.30 & 9.30pm. We currently have full membership of 12 players. (Please see waiting list information and also about formation of a new section below.)
Some players had not played for some time when they joined, but surprised themselves at how quickly their touch returned. The evenings are great fun, the standard is good and fairly even across the membership resulting in many close games. We play the old scoring method to 21 and mainly doubles to avoid long sit outs. Singles are played as and when numbers allow. A couple of our more experienced players are happy to provide coaching tips.
If you register to go on the waiting list we will be able to contact you about visiting as a guest when members are unable to play. Please leave your contact details, preferably including a landline number, and we will call you.
Formation of New Section
Several other players have been playing during the daytime and are looking for players to grow this new section either Tuesday evenings or a daytime. The timing will depend on interest. The standard will probably be lower than Monday evening, so why not come and have a try out. There is no need to feel embarrassed if you are worried about whether you are good enough. You are welcome to come along and meet us and judge for yourself before playing.
